Women and children generally remain at the receiving end in the male dominating society. Though we live in a civilized society yet women and children are not safe in their own home and outside. These concerns compelled the six-trained social workers from Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi, to ponder over the ways for the protection, development and empowerment of these two vulnerable sections of the society. This thinking process and longingness of these social workers gave birth to AFD, which came in being on 13 February 1993.
